The most important rules have to do with calculating the strength of your hand. The object of poker is to make your best five-card poker hand. The order of the hand begins with the high card, which means that your cards are all disparate and the highest represents the strength of your hand. One pair, two cards of equal value, beats a high card, and two pairs beat a pair. After the two pairs come the three of a kind (three cards of equal value) and are followed by a straight, which is five cards in consecutive order. Next comes a flush, which is five non-consecutive cards of the same suit, followed by a full house. Which is a trio plus a pair. Lastly, we have four of a kind, and a straight flush, which is five consecutive cards of the same suit, and a royal flush, which is a straight flush that runs from Ten to Ace.
Last words
The rules of poker in some games require an advance, which is a small bet that everyone places in the middle (in the pot) before the deal. Other games have one or more blinds, which are mandatory bets that certain players must make, which must be matched by any player who wants to continue in the hand. The rules of poker require a series of betting rounds, which generally result in players winning more money and information on what their final hand will be. In each round, a player has the option to check, bet, raise, or deliver. A pass is when a player wants to pass the action on to the next player without placing a bet. A player can only check when no one has bet before him. As soon as someone bets, each successive player has to call that bet, raise or deliver, thus ending their participation in the hand. If someone raises, all remaining players have to place the amount of the raise to continue. In the end, the person on the left shows their hand and the player with the best five-card poker hand wins.
The rules of poker get a bit more complicated depending on whether you are playing Draw poker, Stud poker, or Community Poker, but you already have the foundation to start playing poker. I wish you good luck!
